Data acquisition with Milkypad

Order satellite data.
For the place you choose.

Start with any location on Earth. Specify the area, dates, resolution and measurements you need, from satellite imagery to spectral, thermal, radar and height data. Bring us a data acquisition request for your existing workflow, or explore how an AI assistant can help you analyze the data and build an app.

Discuss your data requirements with our team. Available products and collection options depend on location, specifications and provider coverage; submitting an enquiry does not place an order.

Discuss this brief
  1. 01
    Define your request

Area, dates, measurements and delivery needs.

  2. 02
    Review suitable options

    Availability, full quote and license.

  3. 03
    Approve, then receive

Ordering and delivery under the agreed terms.

Illustrative controls only. No live search, source availability, analysis or order is running. Grid spacing is schematic; sensor and resolution combinations need a suitability check.

Specify the data you need

Your location.
Your requirements.

Order by the dimensions that matter to your work. If you know the specification, bring it. If you know the task, the assistant can help turn it into a data request you can review.

01

Location & area

Choose any point on Earth and define the area around it: a property, a corridor, several sites or a region. Specify the boundary and coverage you need.

Where should the data cover?
02

Dates & frequency

Request a historical date range, a recent observation or a future collection window. Set the repeat frequency if you need a series, and distinguish capture dates from delivery deadlines.

When, and how often?
03

Resolution & detail

Describe the smallest feature you need to see or measure. Specify spatial resolution and location accuracy where you know them, or get help translating the task into requirements.

What needs to be distinguishable?
04

Sensor & measurements

Choose optical, radar, thermal or spectral data according to what you need to observe. Define the bands, wavelengths and processing level needed for your work.

Which measurements do you need?
05

Height & 3D

Request terrain, surface-height or 3D information where relevant. Define whether you need the ground or features above it, together with vertical detail and accuracy.

Does height change the task?
06

Quality & delivery

Define usable coverage, cloud limits and required measurement quality. Include sensitivity, calibration or viewing angle where relevant, plus the format, budget and intended use.

What makes the order usable?
Example request

“I need data for these sites from last spring and a new observation this season. Help me choose the resolution, compare optical and radar options, and check whether I can use the files in a client report.”

Two ways to acquire data

Find an existing observation.
Or request a new collection.

The route depends on when you need the place observed and which suitable products are available. Compare the options against the same request before committing to an order.

Archive data

Order what has already been captured.

Explore existing observations for your location and date range. Compare actual capture dates, coverage, resolution, quality and product contents across eligible open and commercial sources.

Confirm that the available files meet your request, along with their access terms, price and expected delivery.

For historical questions, baselines and suitable recent observations.
New collection / tasking

Request a future observation.

Where a suitable collection service is available, specify the area, collection window, sensor requirements and acceptance conditions. Review feasibility and the offer before authorizing the request.

Collection depends on capacity, conditions and the order terms. A requested date or location does not guarantee a successful capture.

For new observations or repeat coverage that an archive cannot supply.

From a quote to data you can use

Know what you’re buying.
Follow it through to delivery.

Your order should make the product, price, permitted uses and delivery conditions understandable. Getting the data can be the complete task; analysis and app building are optional next steps.

  1. 01

    Review the full offer

See the selected product, requested and billable area, minimum order, imagery and preparation costs, applicable fees and taxes, and quote validity before authorizing an order.

Product specification · complete price · license · delivery estimate
  2. 02

    Follow the delivery

Track the order and its delivery status. For a new collection, review the collection window, acceptance conditions and the options in the order terms if delivery is partial or unsuitable.

Order status · collection conditions · delivered coverage
  3. 03

    Use the data you ordered

Receive the data with its observation dates, source details and license. Keep it in your Milkypad project or export it for use in your own tools where the product license permits.

Your project · permitted downloads · optional analysis and apps

Order for the tools you already use.

Define your download, reporting and sharing needs before purchase. Check the license for the intended users and export format so the data can serve your own workflow.

Data guide

Optical

Compare land cover and vegetation.

See land cover, water, vegetation and the shape of a changing landscape. Measurements beyond visible light can reveal patterns that a natural-color image does not show.

Questions it can support
Land-cover comparisons, vegetation patterns, surface-water extent.
What to keep in view
Cloud, haze and shadow can obscure the surface. Similar colors do not always mean the same material or condition.
Before you compare
Clear coverage · season · relevant spectral bands

Radar

Investigate surfaces when cloud limits optical views.

Radar measures the response to a transmitted signal. It can complement optical observations when cloud interrupts a series, and support specialized work on water, surface structure and movement.

Questions it can support
Flood screening, surface-change investigation, specialist ground-motion analysis.
What to keep in view
Surface roughness, moisture and viewing geometry all affect the signal. A radar image requires its own processing and interpretation.
Before you compare
Acquisition geometry · processing method · reference conditions

Thermal

Understand patterns of surface heat.

Thermal observations help explore how surface temperature varies across places and observation times, with land cover and weather providing essential context.

Questions it can support
Urban surface-heat screening, thermal contrasts, environmental context.
What to keep in view
Surface temperature is different from air temperature. Time of day, atmosphere and material properties affect comparisons.
Before you compare
Observation time · atmospheric corrections · pixel size

Hyperspectral

Investigate materials through their spectral response.

Closely spaced spectral measurements can help specialists investigate exposed materials and biochemical signals when the observations, corrections and reference evidence are suitable.

Questions it can support
Surface-material screening, spectral comparisons, specialist environmental research.
What to keep in view
Coverage and surface exposure matter. A spectral resemblance alone cannot establish mineral grade, a diagnosis or a causal explanation.
Before you compare
Wavelengths · calibration · reference spectra · surface exposure

Elevation

Add terrain and height to your analysis.

Terrain and surface models add height, slope and landform context. The appropriate model depends on whether you need the ground itself or the objects above it.

Questions it can support
Terrain context, slope exploration, catchment analysis and site planning.
What to keep in view
A surface model can include trees and buildings. Vertical reference, accuracy, acquisition date and resolution must suit the task.
Before you compare
Terrain or surface · vertical reference · accuracy · age

Your data

Connect observations to your sites and records.

Site boundaries, field notes, asset registers and local measurements connect Earth observations to your work. Your own identifiers should follow the result into a report or an app.

Questions it can support
Site summaries, intervention histories, field validation and custom workflows.
What to keep in view
Location errors, missing dates and inconsistent identifiers can change the meaning of a result. Permissions and sensitive information need attention too.
Before you compare
Coordinate system · identifiers · observation dates · permission

A guide to data types and your own project inputs. Available products, licenses and collection options are confirmed against each request.

Data for your own workflow

Receive the data.
Choose what happens next.

Use the permitted files in your existing workflow, keep them in a Milkypad project or combine them with your own boundaries and records. If you need analysis or a custom app, continue with the same sources.
